The iconic and historic S.H. Kress & Co. building has everyone talking about the planned 23-story tower in Downtown Tampa to include a boutique hotel and apartments. The Kress building, located at 811 N. Franklin Street, will feature 190 hotel rooms, 58 multi-family residential units, over 1,000 square feet of office space, and 15,217 square feet of restaurant space, and 124 parking spaces developed inside. A rezoning application has been filed for the real estate development.
In recent months, downtown Tampa and neighboring areas are undergoing exciting transformations to include an exciting mix of new upscale hotels, retail, and modern, urban living spaces. Furthermore, it appears that the Downtown Tampa revitalization frenzy of projects, won’t be slowing down anytime soon, according the latest proposed and planned development projects in Tampa.
Furthermore, a series of recent real estate developments, new construction and refurbishing of historic buildings have positioned Tampa’s Downtown District for a “rebirth” of business, shopping, fine dining and arts and entertainment activity. One of Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s and developers’ main goals in transforming Downtown Tampa and the Channel District was to create a live-work-play concept. That vision is coming into fruition.
