The Tampa Bay Business Journal listed The University of South Florida as the largest university in the Tampa Bay area for 2014. Located in beautiful Tampa Bay on Florida’s spectacular west coast, The University of South Florida is established as a high-impact, global research university.
The school was founded in 1956, is a member institution of the State University System of Florida and is a public research university. It is the fourth-largest public university in the state of Florida, and is made up of three institutions that include USF Tampa, USF St. Petersburg and USF Sarasota-Manatee. They are each accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools separately. To add, USF is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the top tier of research universities, and is distinguished among three other universities in Florida to as having obtained this highest level of classification.
